MOPSpeak

another way we can talk and share with each other…

I’m having a pity party….anyone want to come?

hello, I’m just in such a woe-is-me place, I need to change my attitude in 10 minutes before my sick little son wakes up.  We’ll leave then to pick up his sis and head to the doctor’s office.  If anyone’s ever been to the dr.’s office with two very energetic children like mine, you know the anxiety I am feeling.  It’s so silly.  I mean, what are they going to do, jump off the chairs?  possibly,  tap on the fish tank obsessively calling out all the while in a very loud voice, HEY FISHY, COME HERE, I SAID COME HERE!   over and over, while I say over and over, Please stop that!!!  definitely!   Maybe pass gas loud and laugh over and over because everyone’s heard it?  yep.  Then, I’ll remember that there’s a TV and I’d love for my two to sit like all the rest and watch it without turning the waiting room into a circus arena, wrestling rink, or Hannah Montana stage.  I know there’s not a lot I can do except smile politely at the people who are giving me the “looks” and pray pray pray that I don’t have a heart attack while getting through that hour before we get into the “room”, where a whole new set of “stop that”s, “please don’t touch that”s and “no, you’re not getting a shot” begin.  This is me rambling on and feeling sorry for myself, anyone want to join in?

The movie, Juno.

Jack and I went to see the movie Juno.  The movie catches you by surprise.  I loved how it was not all pretty and neatly revealed.  It was worth seeing.  My table talked about it on thurs. in our discussion and I took their advice and went to see it….I wanted to share the review…..it was good!  Two thumbs up.

A Parent’s Prayer

A Parent’s Prayer

God, our Creator, make me a better parent.

Teach me to understand my children, to listen patiently

To what they have to say and to answer all

Their questions kindly.

Keep me from interrupting them or contradicting them.

Make me as courteous to them

As I would have them be to me.

Forbid that I should ever laugh at their mistakes,

Or resort to shame and ridicule when they displease me.

May I never punish them for my own selfish satisfaction,

Or to show my power.

Let me not tempt my children to lie or steal.

And guide me hour by hour that I may demonstrate

By all I say and do

That honesty produces happiness.

Reduce, I pray, the meanness in me. And

When I am out of sorts, help me,

O God, to hold my tongue.

May I ever be mindful that my children are children

And I should not expect of them

The judgment of adults.

Let me not rob them of the opportunities to wait on themselves

And I should not expect of them

The judgment of adults.

Let me not rob them of the opportunities to wait on themselves

And to make decisions.

Bless me with the bigness to grant them all

Their reasonable request and the courage

To deny them the privileges I know

Will do them harm.

Make me fair and just and kind. And fit me,

O God, to be loved and respected and

Imitated by my children.

Our 1st MOPS meeting!

Hello everyone!

Wasn’t our first MOPS meeting great! I have to admit that I had never heard Jana Alyra until that day. I know, I know, BUT I do have 5 kids!! Her testimony was so moving, and it was such a blessing to see the work God is doing in her and through her! I also have lost 2 sons and I can truly understand her grief. But, God is sovereign and He is Good.

It was great to be able to greet people and to meet a lot of the new Moms. I hope and pray that they, and we, have a great new semester at MOPS!

Blessings!

Super Exciting Semester About To Start!

Yay! The Leadership Team is gearing up for a fantasmic Spring semester of MOPS!

We had a terrific Meet Your Table Picnic and our registration is officially full. But if you know of people who are interested, please still have them register. We may be able to squeeze a few extra in. S

Editorial note: Some photos on this blog have been posted with consent and others have not. If you would prefer not to have your photos posted online, please let us know and we can remove them.

Oh yeah, I used the cool Glen Ivy Spa certificate in December. I know I said I would tell you all in advance, but my mom and I had a free day and we decided to just go. It was soo cool. Never having been to a “proper spa” before, the experience was so nice! Let’s definitely plan to go together sometime=) Thank you again Leadership! And you guys were so generous with the gift I had enough left over to buy a bamboo robe! It is like my favorite thing to wear around the house this Winter. I am in that robe all the time (I hope my husband isn’t sick of seeing me in in by now) But I think of your thoughtfulness and you are all close to my heart!  SC
